Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are typically made of hyaluronic acid, and are injected into the soft tissue to provide volume and fill in wrinkles.
What is a Filler
Fillers smooth away lines and wrinkles, create fuller and hydrated lips, and can create shape and contouring in ares like the cheeks, chin, nose and jaw. Fillers restore natural volume loss and /or add lift. Filler is a gel like substance, that mimics what is naturally found under our skin and will promote natural collagen and elastin production.
As I like to say, "I lay it in like a bead of caulking and then it grows in that space like expand -a- foam".
As we age our bodies stop producing collagen and elastin (both of these contribute to a youth look).... like 2% a year!! And by the age of 20, our body completely stops!
Common areas for dermal filler:
Nose to mouth lines (nasolabial folds)
Lips
Chin and jawline
Nose
Cheeks
Beside the corners of the mouth (marionette lines)
Getting filler involves topically numbing the target area with topical anesthetic first, and then injecting the target area. Filler takes 14 days to look its best and can last 9-12 months. Filler can be dissolved after its injected if needed. There are many types and brands of dermal filler. Your RN will be able to set out a custom plan for your filler injections, indicating filler brand, type and amount needed. Every face is different so each filler job is a custom job and needs to be tailored to the individual
